April 19, 20188 yr Using vnc remote on latest version of ubuntu (afaik, I'll get into why I don't know exactly later) just doesn't work. It seems to be based on what day I use it. Some days it works absolutely fine, and some days it just refuses to work. Today is another one of those non working days. The screen won't update properly, meaning that something has to actually update in a major way for that one tiuny portion of the screen to finally render. The mouse is COMPLETELY off, where I have to click absolutely randomly and hope that eventually I'll click remotely close to what I actually want to get to. I'm stuck using ONLY the vnc remote browser viewer since anything else I throw at it gets immediately refused. I tried on chrome, firefox, and I wanted to try on edge evene but HAHA bug surprise it is even worse to try to use on edge since I can't even see where the mouse goes at all! Scaling is terrible even when it works, I used to have to go fullscreen and it would line up. If it was locally downsized the interactivity wouldn't change from being full size (fun guessing games again) What frustrates me most is that this was working FINE just a few days ago and was working great and very consistently weeks before that. But every so often it'll just break and go into this ridiculous set of issues. I have to force shutdown the vm to even get the screen to update at all sometimes. It seems to be a bigger issue when I log in. I haven't restarted the unraid server itself. I am running the unraid 6.4.0 (these vnc remote issues have been going since whenever I first got unraid maybe a year or two ago, but at first everything was WAY worse where it would lag and even if I pressed a key as quick as I could it would lag and send a really long press which made it hard to do or type anything) Trying to reboot the vm manager as I write this but it looks like it may have just up and died. Edit: deleted libvirt.img, so now the vm manager has started again, but of course my vm has now been deleted. Edit: I mean I have the vdisk still but of course I can't seem to recover it.... put it as SeaBios as I think I had it before and it's just a big black screen Edit 2: We're back. It was actually working I just couldn't tell because the screen wouldn't update so the whole thing stayed black until I dragged stuff around screen to force it to try to update. SOLVED: Had to go into advanced mode and switch the vnc graphics driver from the default "best" to another one. Edited April 19, 20188 yr by Server1Alpha
