About power consumption

Featured Replies

First of all, hello to all the people on this forum.

I'm very interested on unRaid but have some questions I haven't got an exact answer, also my english is not as good as I wish.

Actually I have a Plex server(i7-4785T 35W, 8GB ram), Gaming PC (4670K, 1080ti, 8GB) and a Synology DS1515+.

I need to get some help:

1.- If I passtroughgpu to a Gaming VM gpu stays on idle watts even VM is down? less?, does exist any conflict if I manage a script on windows shutdown to underclock the GPU and when VM starts to set default consumption?

2.- About cores I'm a litte scared about Plex. Actually can HW transcode with my i7-4785T i think becouse cpu gpu will be for unRaid I won't be able to use to HW transcode.

Is just a bad idea to build it to have a Gaming VM?

Thanks
