April 28, 20188 yr Hey everyone! I have been running UnRaid for awhile now, really not doing anything with it other than using a Plex plug in for movies. Well today one of my drives crashed on my PC and it was not backed up, so I lost a ton of information that I should have been more careful with. I know UnRaid is a powerful tool and I'm trying to learn how to use it currently to reach a higher potential. However my current version is really out of date (6.2.4) and I'm not sure how to go about updating it. If anyone could point me in the right direction of how to get it updated (in the most dumbed-down way possible) to its most current state it would be greatly appreciated!

April 29, 20188 yr Author Thanks for the link! I have been through all the steps, but have gotten stuck on this particular one: Stop the array (If 6.3.5 or earlier) Go to Plugins and update the unRAID OS plugin (but don't reboot yet) When going to Plugins and update for the unRAID OS, I have no option to update.
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert Click on the 'Install Plugin' tab on this screen and paste in the following: https://s3.amazonaws.com/dnld.lime-technology.com/stable/unRAIDServer.plg

April 29, 20188 yr Author Okay I believe I found the issue. When prompting the update of the OS, the plugin install fails giving me this issue: boot device shows 143560 free but upgrade needs 166468 plugin: run failed: /bin/bash retval: 1 Does this mean that the USB I'm using for the OS is too small to run the newer OS?

How big is your flash? Do you already have a lot on it? Very unusual for people to run out of room on flash. Maybe you have a bunch of old logs or something? Also, how much RAM do you have?
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert Changing to a new (larger) USB drive is now simple. See here: https://lime-technology.com/replace-key/ I am also interested in how much RAM you have. Edited April 29, 20188 yr by Frank1940
April 29, 20188 yr Author I believe it was a 16GB drive that I bought specifically for running the OS, there should not be anything on the drive other than what was used to run the server. Server has 32gb of RAM currently installed
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert On the Main screen of the GUI, click on the Boot Device Tab/section and see how much is used.
April 29, 20188 yr Author It is a 16gb drive, says 280mb used and 147mb is free. But does say that the size is only 427mb? Edited April 29, 20188 yr by DrockinWV
April 29, 20188 yr Author Total capacity: 406mb Used: 267mb Free: 139mb File System is a FAT32 Checking into disk management, there is 14.16gb of unallocated storage. Am I able to change the partition without screwing up the current OS? Edited April 29, 20188 yr by DrockinWV
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert Sounds like a broken flash. Maybe you can copy the files off it and try to format it again and see if the space comes back. I have had flash drives fail like this (not related to unRAID) where most of their capacity just seems to disappear.
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert At this point though I don't think I would trust it anymore and maybe you should just follow that link Frank1940 gave earlier to replace it.
April 29, 20188 yr Author I think I will try to format the drive, it could be as simple as not doing it correctly the first time. Im very much still a noob an could have done something wrong the first time around.
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert IF you don't have one laying around, get a UBS2 drive and 32GB or less. A 8GB or16GB would do fine. Just get a name brand that you readily recognize. (Avoid those handouts that you get at trade shows and street fairs...) Edited April 29, 20188 yr by Frank1940
April 29, 20188 yr Author Well I changed the partition of the drive from the 407mb to the 14gb, put files back on usb installed back to server and booted up. Now I cannot access the web gui?
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert Did you run make_bootable? When you say "booted up" do you mean it actually booted? Do you have a keyboard and monitor attached?
April 29, 20188 yr Community Expert Have you checked the USB is labelled as ‘UNRAID’? Failure to do so would mean it did not get mounted during startup, and thus startup did not com-let’s successfully. One way to check is to login on the console and see if the ‘df’ command shows the USB stick mounted as /boot.
