Samba doesn't work

Featured Replies

This is so broken or I don't get how it works.

I have a samba shares as public, I access to it but for some reason I have read access but can't write, fantastic. So I disable the share (export=NO) and I can still access to the folder read movies, files whatever I want....

Does it makes any sense? why I can't write in the samba folder? I don't get why nothing works as is suppose to work.

It would be a good idea to provide the diagnostics zip file (Tools->Diagnostics) if you want any informed feedback.

I installed local master to see if the situation improves, thanks.

Local master is a good thing to use and I highly recommend it, but it would typically help for those cases where a computer couldn't access your server by name. That doesn't sound like the trouble you described in the OP so maybe one of the other solutions at that link will be needed.

There is a current issue with the ransomware protection plugin where is a possible ransomware attack happens, SMB does not get re-enabled afterwards.

I've been working on this issue off and on, and it appears to be not possible to re-enable it on unRaid 6.4.1+ due to changes made in unRaid itself.  Future versions of ransomware protection will remove the smb restart attempt, and you will have no recourse other than to stop and start the array.

In the meantime for this, since the snippet shows that SMB permission were reset to normal, a simple stop and start of the array should get you in business

That happend whem I was tryng to move files from one place to another to see If I could copy files to a folder. I enable the share after that, so is not connected.

Maybe my issue if one of those weird things that are fixed after reboot the client and or the server, I will try.
