Dell R430 with Intel(R) Xeon Problems with Plex Transcoding

Recommended Posts

I have a relatively new Dell R430 Server with

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v4 @ 2.10GHz

I installed UNRAID recently with plex docker.  Plex keeps buffering since it's running out of CPU.  I had the same problem with VMware running a windows instance with plex.  Any idea why it's doing this?  I have 32GB ram installed.  Single Processor.

When I use a MACPRO I have no issues.  Player is ROKU.  Looking at the CPU usage, couple of the cores get pegged at 100%.  Same problem happened when I was running VMware on the same box with a windows instance running Plex Server

I assume when you are using a MacPro native, it's not buffering (vs. OSX on a VM).

So I ran across this info that might help...

Your CPU vs. mine https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Xeon-E5-2620-vs-Intel-i5-2400/1214vs793

And then this comment in the Plex forums...
