coblck
Hi total newbie here so please take it easy, im moving from my qnap nas to my new built unraid server (have 9 days left before i buy) and really love it so far, i have only 1 problem my ip camera is setup to record to an FTP server which was easy enough to setup on my nas but for the life of me cant seem to work out on my unraid, i have enabled it and entered user and went to ip camera and entered detailed there ( ip, username and password ). But cant seem to find folder on server to check recordings, can anyone help or point me in the right direction. Many thanks Edited April 30, 2018 by coblck Quote Link to comment
trurl
Are you trying to use the built-in FTP Server in unRAID? I think most people disable that one and install another from Community Applications. Have you tried just accessing the FTP Server with a standard FTP Client to get an idea of whether and how it works? I am not familiar with what you are trying to do so I would need more details to give any further advice. Quote Link to comment

Your camera application must tell it where to save the footage. Isn't your camera application capable of browsing the FTP server to select where to save? Quote Link to comment

trurl
I just tried out the builtin FTP server and it appears to give you access to the whole /mnt folder in unRAID, which has the user shares in /mnt/user, but also the individual disks in /mnt/disk1, etc. That is why I suggested browsing the FTP server from your application. I think you are going to have to tell your application to use "user/Public" if you want to get to the user share named Public. Quote Link to comment
coblck
Thanks for the help, the camera wont let me search unfortunately, also if i try an enter user/Public it gives error saying no symbols are not allowed in path, on my nas i could tell the nas what folder to use for ftp server is that not possible for unraid Edited April 30, 2018 by coblck Quote Link to comment

I don't use any but you can get to the support thread for any of them from Community Applications and see if one would suit you. Quote Link to comment

Dredging up old posts - not my favourite thing to do - but this thread seems spot on. RE ProFTP - is that the same as ProFTPd? I'm looking for the same reason as the OP, and ProFTPd is the only one that isn't a Docker from my search. Quote Link to comment
