Passing through an unassigned device to a Windows VM

I have a Windows VM, which works very well. I have my Unraid share mapped as network drive.

For some reasons, some applications don't work well on mapped network drives, so I need to pass through a disk directly to the Windows VM. Is this possible? I am thinking of two ways to do it:

1) Passing through an unassigned drive directly to the VM. This drive would then show up as second disk drive under my Windows VM and cannot be accessed outside the VM. Would this even be possible? If so, how to format the unassigned drive (XFS vs. brfs) and how to actually pass it through in the VM settings.

2) Find a way with visualization. Maybe some way to pass through a VHDX file as disk. Not within the WIndows VM, but natively on Unraid level?

Any advice appreciated!
