May 13, 20188 yr Community Expert Is there a clear benefit of passing through an entire SSD to run my Windows VM vs a vdisk on the cache drive? I am thinking of the following configurations for gaming: 1) Windows VM vdisk on cache drive (1TB for OS and games) 2) Windows VM on a passed-through disk (1TB for OS and games); no idea whether this is even feasible? 3) WIndows VM vdisk on cache drive (100GB) and separate passthrough of another SSD (1TB) with games data [opened another thread how to do this] 4) Windows VM vdisk on cache drive for OS (100GB) and second vdisk on same cache drive for games (800GB) 5) Windows VM vdisk on cache drive for OS (100GB) and second vdisk on array drive for games (800GB) 6) Windows VM vdisk on cache drive for OS (100GB) and second vdisk on unassigned disk for games (1TB) What would give me the best performance and efficiency?
