Rajahal
Not much choice since the other is sold out... In case Newegg sells out on this item too, here's the same product for the same price at Buy.com: TRENDnet TEG-S80G 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch - $30 Link to comment
GK20
TRENDNET 8 port gigabit 29.99 + Free Shipping $10 more than the 5 port link below choose, but choose wisely i had two 8 ports and one 5 ports GE switches from D-LINK, all acquired over time when i saw a deal, from my experience, you don't really need 8 ports unless this is the backbone switch in your home network. However for $10 more that is really no harm to get 3 more ports although likely those ports will be idle. Link to comment
Joe L. I think I have one 8-port and 4 5-port switches. Typically the 8 port switch will feed a remotely located 5-port switch connecting everything in the remote area. There's a lot more networking going on these days than ever before. 8-port (at unRAID server) 5-port (back of home-theater equipment rack) 5-port (master bedroom) 5-port (basement computer lab/workshop area) 5-port (den) Link to comment

Joe L.
haha Joe L. I thought I was bad, but you've clearly proven I'm not Nah... you sound pretty "normal" to me. Last week I even used an old 100Mb/s hub when I was working with a laptop and another PC in my kitchen, and only had one available port. Speed did not matter, so 100Mb/s was perfectly fine. I did not even mention I'm planning on splitting out some of it to a second network... (mostly for the security system. Network cameras like to have a lot of available bandwidth) I probably should pick up another one of the 8 port switches when I get a chance. Link to comment

In my environment, 8 port -------> DSL modem |----> Printer Server |----> 8 port ---> unRAID | |--> Work PC | |--> WD NAS | |----> 5 port ----> HTPC |--> PS3 |---> Wii Not to mention, i had some retired 10/100 switches laying around. WeeboTech
I got tired of the 8 port units all over the place. I had 3 When I ran out of ports I purchased 2 16 port dell rackmounts that supported VPN. In the end it saved management and electricity, plus I have the ability to VPN the network. Link to comment
