August 17, 201015 yr Hey all, I'm interested in upgrading my SATA controller card as I'm currently using an older Supermicro 8port on PCI-X, which is just too slow for my needs. It seems everyone and their mother is using the newer Supermicro Add-on Card AOC-SASLP-MV8, with breakout cables, but from my poking around it seems that you need to be on unRAID 4.5.x or higher. Is that true? I don't feel like upgrading my unRAID software yet, as I would rather wait until 5.0 comes out and then buy 5.0 + a blank license for the next upgrade. I've been searching NewEgg and it seems that there is a decent 2 port PCIe Rosewill (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132008&cm_re=sata_controller-_-16-132-008-_-Product) that should work, but I was hoping to find a 4 port that didn't cost an arm and a leg... as it *might* make more sense to pop for the newer Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8... Thank you in advance for your feedback.
August 17, 201015 yr Author Well it goes without saying that I'm slow... Looks like upgrading to the newest 4.5.6 doesn't cost a penny... So buh-bye to 4.3.3
