May 18, 20188 yr Just wanted to say hello to the unRAID community. I'm not a big poster and I'm pretty good at searching for my answers, so this will probably be one of my only posts. Started with a old Windows computer sharing a bunch of folders, to stepping up to a couple of QNAP systems. 5 years later, after realizing the hardware in these NASs wouldn't do VMs, I had a hard decision to make... Upgrade to a $2-3K QNAP or build something. First thing that came to mind was that if I was going to build something, it couldn't be a Windows machine again (so 2000'ish). Then, looking at some of those sexy QNAP systems, I just felt like I was buying the name. Hardware was nice and all, but left wanting more "horsepower". My awesome dad told me about the server he built with software called unRAID...."What the heck is unRAID?" All it took was one chat with the link and I was on the path to freedom of expression. As you can see in my sig block, I built this thing for future growth. Welp, that's probably all the words I've got for the moment (or awhile). To all you that provide help, assistance, and take the time to answer all those newbie questions, thank you so very much! I've been able to use your wisdom/knowledge to get my machine up and running without issue. Heck, even fixed the acpi_handler.sh issue I had....just by searching... See you around unRAID-ers... -Aaron
