Who picked the forum Emoji pack?

Those new Emoji's have to be the ugliest thing around.  Bit of a pain having to scroll down to the bottom of the list to find the originals that actually look good.
Nah, they haven't stolen your crown don't worry! You're still number one.

That's just what shipped with the forum software.  The originals at the bottom look low-res and blurry to me though.

The black-and white under "Smileys & People" looks horrible. ?

The colored ones under "Default" looks good. B|

The colored ones under "Converted" feels a bit small. 8)

When I posted it was the low res black and whites that were the only ones available.

Ah.  I still see two of those kinds: ☺️ and ☹️

They're tiny and don't really fit in with the others, maybe I should get rid of them.

Even my poor normal-user test account, with 0 posts, has the skin tone option and color.

I don't have any option for skin tone.

And just to verify - do you not see the uncolored emoji that I listed in my previous post?
Now complemented with screen image of what I see:

Edit: This is latest Chrome version on Windows 7.

(I'm on a Mac)

The uncolored ones I get first in the list looks absolutely terrible.

Not sure if it's a system font or a font the site downloads.

But I prefer emoji that are actual images so all users will see the same thing.

They change their nuances quite a lot when totally differently rendered.

Same issue between Android and iPhone - scientific papers have shown that there is a very significant difference in emotion captured by the same emoji just because of the different rendering between the systems. So one systems "nice" emoji feels partially hostile on the other system. That really isn't helping users conveying mood.
