Move data between shares - how?

Featured Replies

I've got a few folders worth of data on a disk which i need to be 'owned' by another share on the same disk. I've tried to just move the data but it seems it is reading and rewriting to the same disk, maybe to be expected, which seems quite an overhead considering all that is needed is to change owner. Question is how can i make this a simple task instead of the long, time consuming task it appears to be hoing to be using 'move'?

If you move from \\tower\diskx\share1 to \\tower\diskx\share2 it will be instantaneous.

So ... enable disk shares and move at that level?

Yes, or use midnight commander or any other command line util to do it locally, in that case it would be from /mnt/diskx/share1 to /mnt/diskx/share2

You also can use Krusader via Docker

Even when the data is on same disk?

It will only be instantaneous if it is on the same disk, else it will be a normal copy
