hellarda
Hi, I am trying to setup an Ubuntu VM, but I can't get past the install stages because when trying to type a computer name/username the VNC viewer seems to register about 15 keyboard strokes for every keyboard press. I have tried an old Ubuntu disk too, and the mouse and keyboard wouldn't work properly (keyboard was doing the same, and the mouse wouldn't click anything) Using NoMachine didn't help either (and obviously can't use nomachine for the install) Any ideas? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Dev Null
You might try using a separate VNC client rather than the default web one. I've not had problems with it on unRAID, but I have had that issue with web-vnc elsewhere. Gridrunner (youtube channel: Spaceinvader One) posted a video that mentions this, and you might find that helpful. I've set the timestamp at the start of that section in this link: Since you've already tried nomachine, you might find that this doesn't overcome the problem, but I'd say it's worth a try. Best of luck. Quote Link to comment
hellarda
Thanks for the reply, I did try to use another client, but it won't let me connect (refuses the connection) during the ubuntu setup Quote Link to comment
Jorgen
You can try connecting a physical keyboard and mouse to your unRAID server and then attaching them to the VM (via the edit menu). Then use VNC to view the screen (assuming you don’t have a GPU passed through) and use the physical mouse/kb to enter the details. This worked for me in a similar situation, but I guess it depends on where in the boot the devices becomes available.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment
