Parity Drive Spins down

Hi ive started to notice that my parity drive spins down when server is idle after a while even though 1 of my other drives in my array is spun up, is this normal ????

    You need the parity when writing to the array.

    Not when reading - so you can play a media file with just a single disk spinning.

    Thought as much thanks the disk that is active is being used by transmission to upload to makes sense now thanks
