pinion
I'd like to move /mnt/user/appdata to be cache only on /mnt/cache/appdata. I've set the Share to cache only in the share settings screen but if I try to move it to the cache drive and then delete it from data it will also delete it from the cache drive. I'm responding to the fix common problems: "Share appdata set to cache-only, but files / folders exist on the array" Link to comment
Squid
Set the share to be cache prefer.Stop the docker and libvirt service in settings. Then run mover Link to comment
pinion
Thanks! Any reason I would set it to Cache Prefer and not Cache Only? I did what you suggested and notice I still have all the files in /mnt/user/appdata and /mnt/cache/appdata. Although when I was running mover last night I was keeping an eye on /mnt/cache/appdata and it definitely went from around 10GB to 67GB or so before I slept. Mover is done this morning and now with ncdu I see cache is at 70GB and the same folder on the disks are at 70GB too. Link to comment
Squid
Because cache only won't move files to the cache drive that are on the array Link to comment
trurl
Cache is part of user shares, so anything you see in /mnt/cache is also in /mnt/user. It is the exact same files, just another view of them. Same as how files in /mnt/disk# is also in /mnt/user. See here for the finer details about the different Use cache settings: https://lime-technology.com/forums/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/?page=2#comment-537383 Link to comment
pinion
Awesome, that makes sense. Thank you both! Link to comment
