unRAID (or unMenu) from Console?

Featured Replies

Working on my initial unRAID server setup. Currently have it in the room that it'll reside but haven't run the ethernet cables there yet.  Is there a method from the server to run the menus //tower or //tower:8080 ?

Or do I need to either:

1) run the cables and hook up to network

2) move to room with network cables already

You could run an ethernet cable from a laptop directly to the tower.  Depending on your hardware, it might need to be a crossover cable.

tried it by plugging in network cable between laptop & tower.  It didn't work.

Don't have a crossover cable.

Guess I need to crawl under the house soon to run the cables to the room or wait until the preclear I'm running completes (61% complete of Pre-Read step) to work with it in the other room.

Somewhere, somehow addresses need to be assigned on both the workstation and server so they exist on the same network.

If I were in a rush, I might run a long cord from one switch to a temporary switch in the room, then hook the unRAID server there.

No rush.  Just a little antsy to poke around a little and end up getting it all configured and setup.

Just had unforseen events come up everytime I thought I had time to get under the house (with halfway decent weather - not raining or too hot) to run the cables.
