UPS Disconnects from USB port

Featured Replies

Any help please. My UPS CyberPower model LX1500GU keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to the USB port on my server. I ran the diag file and attached it here. Everything else seems to be working just fine. Thanks

What all have you tried to troubleshoot it? Different physical USB ports, different settings in BIOS?

I did switch USB ports on the server. What settings do you think I could change in the BIOS that might help? I am also using a new USB cable and I have also tried using another USB cable to make sure it was not the cable itself. That's it so far. Thanks

Whatever settings effect the USB modes and speeds. Different BIOS have different options available, you'll have to poke around in yours and see what's available and what they do.

Wouldn't hurt to try an add in PCIE USB card if you have one laying around or can pick one up cheap to try.

i have one APC Smart Ups 750 that starts USB disconnection dance when it is under heavy use on battery. i think it's because of high temperature, this ups have no fan inside.. so maybe you have a similar issue?

Does the USB disconnect hurt anything else other than getting error reports?

i think it will hurt, if your server need's to shutdown on power outage, but UPS don't talk to server to do that because of USB failure..

Just plugged in a PCIe USB card will see how that goes and will let the forum know how it goes in the next day or two. Thanks All for the help

If that doesn't change the symptoms, the issue is probably internal to the UPS, like @uldise noted.

So far so good. The PCIe USB card is working great no alarms or problems so far after 1 and a half days. Thanks
