June 21, 20188 yr I was shrinking my array and I got this error when I started the array /mnt/cache mount error: No pool uuid I had an option to format one of my cache pool drives which seemed sensible as I've got a pool, so that seemed ok...wrong! I lost all data on both drives, rather than then one I formatted syncing with the other. Luckily, I've got everything valuable backed up (almost) so just a PITA not a disaster. To help others avoid this problem, what should I have done? @limetech a warning that this would/could erase data on both drives not the drive being formatted would have helped Edited June 21, 20188 yr by DZMM

Format always formats the entire pool. 1 hour ago, DZMM said: To help others avoid this problem, what should I have done? Posted your diagnostics before formatting.

I think this is an area the messaging could be improved - for critical events like this, you shouldn't have to refer to a manual. Or, it should say 'Important - read the manual first' 3 minutes ago, johnnie.black said: Posted your diagnostics before formatting. I love the community support for this product and it's one of the reasons I would recommend it to other people, along with products like rclone where the forum is very helpful. I agree this would have been a good step, but when you're under time pressure and there's no guarantee you'll get a response in the community forum, again the messaging could have been better.
