JasonSauce Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Alright guys, so I am going to be upgrading some hardware soon and here is some questions I was thinking about. When i move my HD's over to new case, is order of drives important? They are in a 2U server blade with a raid card flashed to IT mode. Will unRaid rebuld the data? Can unRaid identify the HD's by serial? What I wanted to do if it can is mark them by serial as I take them out, so I can put them in that order so to speak when I transfer them into new case. Raid card will be be transferred as well. Things that are going to be new. CPU MOBO Case PSU SAS expander Things I am taking from old server MEM Raid card (flashed to IT mode) HD's (12) USB flash drive (although I bought a new one to use in place of the older one) And any other tips and pointers anyone might have if they have done similar/upgrades/lateral moves.. Thanks I can get links to parts if need be.

Frank1940 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Do screen print(s) of your all your current drive assignments. As a corollary of Murphy's Laws, you will never need it. ?
Frank1940 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 One more thing. Stop any Dockers or VM's from Auto-starting before you do your last shutdown. That will allow you to start them up again with the new hardware under a more controlled condition.
_0m0t3ur Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Here's the link to the unRAID FAQ related to your question. The key points were already answered but I thought you might like it for reference.
JasonSauce Posted July 8, 2018 Author Posted July 8, 2018 Thanks for the help everyone. Build is up and running. Here she is completed
