Copying Data from NTFS drive into Unraid

Featured Replies

Hello all, I just started using Unraid a couple of days ago. Watched some tutorials on you tube about Unraid. I need help on copying data from my Windows Backup hard drives to Unraid. I installed the hard drive into Unraid box and using Unassigned Devices plug in to mount the hard drive. Unraid recognizes everything and looks fine. By using Krusader, I am trying to locate the drive mounted but I could not find it. Can anyone help me out on How to copy the data from the mounted drive into my share? Thank you very much.

When you set up Krusader, what did you use as a guide for setting it up?  Did you watch Spaceinvader One's Youtube video for example?  What I'm getting at is what internal pointers (container paths) did you set-up in Krusader and what external pointers (host paths) did you set-up in Krusader?

So, in this example, a default path in Krusader, Host Path 2 is shown below.  This is a screen shot of the set-up screen for the Krusader Docker.  By the way, this can be edited by right clicking on the Krusader Docker in the Docker's tab, and clicking "Edit".

It says that the unRAID user shares which are located in the directory /mnt/user/ can be found in Krusader via the Krusader Docker path of /USER_SHARES.  So, in this example, when I click on the "USER_SHARES" folder located at "Root" inside the Krusader Docker, I see the folders and files located in the array at /mnt/user/.  In other words, I see all the exported User Shares located on the "Shares" tab in the unRAID GUI.

See the "Edit Configuration" pop up screen (below) which is accessed by clicking on the "Edit" button that is seen in the picture above.  This is where you can change both the Container Path and the Host Path.  The main screen only gives the option to provide the Host Path, expecting you to keep the default Container Path.

So you have to have a Krusader container path that points to a location in array where you want to put the files.  After that moving them is the easy part.

For more information, including an actual showing how to move stuff around using Krusader, I recommend Spaceinvader One's Youtube video called Easily move, copy and sync files to unRAID, within unRAID and from unRAID using Krusader.

In the krusader docker add a mapping with /mnt/disks on the host side and /disks on the container side. Then when you are in krusader the UD items will show up in disks, and the unraid shares in /media or whichever container path is mapped to /mnt/user

Thank you very much DoItMyselfToo and jonathanm for the help, problem solved. Indeed, I installed krusader as default without adding or changing the host mapping. Once again, thank you all.
