Cache not being used by the shares...

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just added a cache drive today to my array. I went into the shares and set the 'Use cache disk' option to 'Yes' for my 'Downloads' share.

I tried moving a big file to the 'Downloads' share. Speed was the same as I had before (25MB/s). I then went into the 'cache' share and tried writing directly to it. Speed was around 40MB/s. I tried copying the file again to the 'Downloads' share while ls-ing the contents of /mnt/cache/. Nothing was created.

Did I miss any extra steps?

thanks,

del

I had the same problem, rebooting fixed it.

You can also try a Stop then Start of the array. That should force a restart of the 'shfs' process which provides the user share functionality, and should pick up the change of the cache disk settings.

The restart got it sorted. Thanks!

Restart worked for me also, instead of a reboot... However, I'm noticing that this process has to be done every time a share is added...

Might send a note to lime-tech.  That might be a bug.
