DZMM
I've noticed over the last couple of days that when mover is running it can take over a day to complete. To debug, I just set all of my shares to not use cache, so I can eliminate files being written at the same time as files being removed. When I click 'Move now' it stops within seconds with no files being written: Jul 13 12:12:49 Highlander emhttpd: req (414): cmdStartMover=Move+now&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:12:49 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3192): /usr/local/sbin/mover &> /dev/null & Jul 13 12:15:07 Highlander emhttpd: req (415): cmdStartMover=Move+now&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:15:07 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3193): /usr/local/sbin/mover &> /dev/null & Jul 13 12:15:52 Highlander emhttpd: req (416): shareMoverSchedule=0+*%2F1+*+*+*&shareMoverLogging=no&cmdStartMover=Move+now&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:15:52 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3194): /usr/local/sbin/mover &> /dev/null & Jul 13 12:15:52 Highlander root: Manually starting mover Jul 13 12:17:00 Highlander emhttpd: req (417): shareMoverSchedule=0+*%2F1+*+*+*&shareMoverLogging=no&cmdStartMover=Move+now&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:17:00 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3195): /usr/local/sbin/mover &> /dev/null & Jul 13 12:17:00 Highlander root: Manually starting mover Jul 13 12:17:16 Highlander emhttpd: req (418): shareMoverSchedule=0+*%2F1+*+*+*&shareMoverLogging=yes&changeMover=Apply&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:17:16 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3197): /usr/local/sbin/update_cron Jul 13 12:17:21 Highlander emhttpd: req (419): shareMoverSchedule=0+*%2F1+*+*+*&shareMoverLogging=yes&cmdStartMover=Move+now&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:17:21 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3198): /usr/local/sbin/mover |& logger & Jul 13 12:17:21 Highlander root: Manually starting mover Jul 13 12:17:23 Highlander emhttpd: req (420): shareMoverSchedule=0+*%2F1+*+*+*&shareMoverLogging=yes&cmdStartMover=Move+now&csrf_token=**************** Jul 13 12:17:23 Highlander emhttpd: shcmd (3199): /usr/local/sbin/mover |& logger & Jul 13 12:17:23 Highlander root: Manually starting mover Help please highlander-diagnostics-20180713-1218.zip Edited July 13, 2018 by DZMM Quote Link to comment
itimpi
You should turn on the Help to see how the various settings affect mover. A setting of No means do not even attempt to move files from cache to array, so it is not surprising that it finishes quickly. it is only with a setting of Yes that mover will attempt to move files from cache to array. Thanks. Feeling a bit silly, although not too silly as it doesn't actually say in the help that setting to 'No' will disable mover for those shares: Quote No prohibits new files and subdirectories from being written onto the Cache disk/pool. No mention of mover Quote Link to comment
