Finally everything is setup and running

Recommended Posts

Well this beauty is actually running for a few months now, but i had a few problems during a recent HDD upgrade so i used this time of case opening and recableing to finally get some sort of cable management going.
The server is manly used as storage NAS and media server for me at home and while traveling for work.

Also i use this to learn more about networking, containers, VMs and everything else revolving around it and it really helped me to grow in my day to day job.

At the time i initially built this, i was living in a one room appartment with the server standing around 2m next so my bed. So keeping it as quiet as possible was a huge deal.

OS at time of building: 6.3.5 (i think)
CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon E5640
Motherboard: Supermicro X8DTI-F
RAM: 6 x 16GB DDR3 ECC
Case: Thermaltake Suppressor F51
Drive Cage(s): 2 x 5,25" Adapter for 4SSD/1HHD+2SSD
Power Supply: Pine Core Edition PRO550W
SATA Expansion Card(s): Dell Perc H310
GPU for VM: Nvidia 710GT
Fans: 2 x Noctua 9DX SE1366 + Be Quiet! Pure Wings 2

Parity Drive: 8TB WD White Lable (from WD MyBook)
Data Drives: 8TB WD White + 3 x 4TB WD Red + 2 x 4TB WD Blue = 28TB
Cache Drive: 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD

Primary Use: DATA NAS + Media Server
Likes: Super silent, beautiful case
Dislikes: Even with the 5,25" Adapters i am now maxxed out on drive space, so the only road to upgrade capacity is replacing 4TB drives with 8TB. Also i think i am quite close to the max power of the PSU
Future Plans: Maybe replace the E5640s with E5670s for a bit more power.

Boot (peak): Have not messured them, will add as soon as possible
Idle (avg):Have not messured them, will add as soon as possible
Active (avg):Have not messured them, will add as soon as possible
Light use (avg):Have not messured them, will add as soon as possible
