Wrong max amount of installable RAM displayed in UI

Featured Replies

In the UI, the max installable RAM is listed as 16GB:

But the documentation for that motherboard lists the maximum at 32GB. How can I find out if I can safely put in 32GB? Or if unRAID will even recognize 32GB.

Try it with 32GB and see what happens?

I concur. It’s not like it’s going to explode. Probably not. (Just wear safety glasses as a precaution.)

unRAID uses the utility dmidecode to determine the memory specifications, this utility isn't 100% perfect, likely because it can't be tested on all the different motherboards out there.

If your motherboard documentation tells it supports 32GB of RAM, it is safe to use, but unRAID (dmidecode) may report it wrong.
