Out of Memory During Plex Transcoding 4K

Featured Replies

I wanted to check how my server copes with Plex 4K transcoding. I didn't expect it to succeed, but I surely didn't expect an Out of Memory error.

My linuxserver Plex docker transcodes 1080p quite well.

When I searched the forums I read about Ram transcoding. I'm not doing that.

I have 16 gigs RAM, and that's after removing one stick trying to identify machine check Errors caused by RAM.

I'm running without that stick for over a week, and had no errors since. Normal RAM utilization is up to 30%. I have no VMs.

My Plex /config is set to /mnt/cache/appdata/Plex

No transcode folder defined.

Transcoder default throttle buffer set at the default 60 seconds.

Diagnostics attached.

How can I prevent this error? I don't want an out of memory error each time someone plays a 4K media.

Is it a Plex transcoder issue / a Plex docker for unRAID issue? also found this thread.
