August 18, 20187 yr Finally swapped in an LSI 9201-16i for the old Areca 1231ML, mostly so I can get native communication (drive temps, smart, etc). Effortless swap didn't even have to reassign drives to the array. Came up as if nothing was new. However, on array start, I got a warning that disk 1 reallocation count is 8. The drive was installed 9/2017 and has been on that Areca the whole time (so radio silent lol). Anything I should do other than watching for another warning? The drive warranty is up next month so I am tempted to RMA it just because. 8TB Seagate IronWolf ST8000VN0022-2EL112 tower-diagnostics-20180817-2110.zip Edited August 18, 20187 yr by interwebtech
August 18, 20187 yr Community Expert Run an extended SMART test or a parity check if you haven't ran one recently, if the number remain stable I would likely keep that one instead of risking a refurbished disk, if you could get it replaced by a new one that would be another story.

I run a monthly parity check on the 1st. No errors. I'll run an extended SMART in the morning. Thanks.
