Error code: ENOFLASH6

Good day

i have 2 45drives with all bays filled with 8tb WD Gold drives.

Config: 2 parity, 28 drives and 15 cache

i have been testing with a trial key for a few days, today i had to change the ip on one of the servers and rebooted it.

Once rebooted i was welcomed by error to many devices connected, tried to reregister with the key given as it appears to be usb locked (silly but what do i know)

We want to buy 2 copies of the software but if i continue to get this then what would be the point.

How do i fix this error and make it so we can reboot the system when we want to and move the key to another usb if need be or even an ssd which would be better suited for us.

Not sure why you are getting the error.   Difficult to see how you could be getting a too many devices error on a test license as that should not have attached device number restrictions.

The UnRAID license is designed to be locked to a particular USB drive as this is how licenses are confirmed as being valid (although test licenses also need an internet link for additional online validation).    To handle potential failures of the USB drive there is an automated process for transferring the license to a new drive that can be automatically invoked up to once a year (if needed in a shorter period for any reason then one needs to contact Limetech support giving the reason).   UnRAID only makes light use of the USB as during the boot process it is loaded into RAM and then runs from RAM.   In normal running only a few accesses are made to the USB drive to load or store things like configuration information

Thank you for the reply,

It worked fine until i changed the IP as it needed to be moved to the server dmz.

now this error comes up and all i can do is create a new account to get a trial license but this will be the 3rd time around.

Setup process, select all disks along with parity and then the 15 cache drives, let it rebuild the parity which can take around 18 hours due to the size and disk speed.

copy data to it to make sure it works with cache and non cache copy.

after all this is when i rebooted and got the error so its not as if it was not working but i cant risk setting this up taking it to our data centre and it failing as its going to be the offsite data copy

The online check only applies if you are using a trial licenses.   No online check is done for paid-for licenses.

If I'm reading this correctly, you put the unraid server directly on the internet with no firewall? If so, don't. Unraid is NOT hardened, and you will be hacked, and the scripted logon attempts will fill the log and bring the server down.

You need to put unraid behind a firewall and use a VPN or other externally secured tunnel to access it.

I don't know if this was involved in the exact error you experienced or not.

We have paloalto, all i did was change the dmz, changed the ip range and subnet to where our servers are, i am going to check if the internet check is blocked i assume this is a heartbeat type of function to stop it being cracked.

If that link or port is being blocked i'll open it and test again after i fix my freenas issue on my other 45 drives

Happened again on a standard reboot without changing the dmz standard internet access

There is a physical problem acessing your USB Flash boot device. Please Contact Support.

is it possible to supply me with the link that it goes to and ports? that way i can ensure that it is whitelisted for its IP on my side

I think this is an issue with the specific model of flash drive you are using. Can you test with a totally different brand?

how do i get the trial to be reverted on my account?

this would need to be the 4th account i need to create, the signature is assigned to the usb and all

Try again, with your updated circumstances and what you wish to try next.

currently trying with another usb, which will be the 3rd usb, though 2 were sandisk, next is going to be a transcend.

sadly i do not have the time to wait weeks for support to contact me, i dont really want to use freenas but setting up a smb there has proven to be easier just the reporting isnt that great hence the wanting to use this.

Will revert back if the next usb doesnt work

Transcend doesnt even allow me to use a key, instantly gives me the error

usbs used

sandisk cruiserblade 8gb

sandisk usb ultra flair 16gb

transcend (seems to be a standard 16gb)

You might have a faulty USB port. Have you tried a different one?

Brand new server so i highly doubt it, but yes i have tried all usb ports including the internal usb near the sata ports

Are there any USB 2.0 ports? USB 3.0 ports can have issues.

update: i removed all SSD's in the system "samsung evo 850s and 860s"

used a sandisk glide unsure if its usb2.0 or 3.0 model, rebooted multiple times and the license has remained active with no error.

the only thing i havent tried as of yet is to change the DMZ like i did the first time around, i will do that later on and see what the results are when i move it onto a fibre port instead of copper nic
