Disk with Red X

Featured Replies

I'm at work now so I apologize for my writing and lack of diagnostic report Im just looking for ideas to test out.

I came home last night to find one of my hdd with a Red X next to it, I tryed to set it to no device but for some reason that didn't work so I powered down the system and went to replace the faulty hdd. When I restarted the tower with the new drive, it didn't appear, so I couldn't assign the new hdd in the bad hdds slot.

I did replace the cables and I tryed 2 hdds plus the bad hdd again none showed up.  Did I just screw up and lose the data off this drive?

Thanks for the reply

I planned to when I get off work, was curious if I just forgot to try something.

Diagnostics could save us a lot of questions back and forth.

Do you have backup of any important and irreplaceable data?

Completely understand, all my important stuff has back ups, the entertainment stuff is what I would lose.  While I would rather not lose all that it would not be devastating.
