SavellM
Hi guys, I'm trying to find some info and the difference between the two? 9201-8i vs 9211-8i I purchased 2x 9211-8i from ebay and received 9201-8i, obviously not what I ordered. But before I kick up a stink I wanted to know the difference? Does anyone have any info, or is it worth keeping the 9201-8i? Obviously this is for unRAID so will need IT mode regardless. Thanks all Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
9201 is IT mode only, 9211 is IT or RAID, but since you should use IT they are basically the same for unRAID use. 1 Quote Link to comment
SavellM
Thanks that was my guess. Do you know what the latest firmware for the 9201-8i is? I've seen some reports of flashing the 9211-8i P20 firmware to the 9201 in IT mode. Just wondering if there is standalone firmware already for the 9201? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
p20.00.07 is latest for both. Quote Link to comment
SavellM
Cheers, any chance you know where I can find the P20 for 9201? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
I believe you can use the 9211 IT firmware, but better google it or search the forum to confirm. Quote Link to comment

Based on the documentation from broadcom/lsi/megaraid, they use the same firmware. They are all based on SAS2008. If it helps, this is the guide I followed, https://nguvu.org/freenas/Convert-LSI-HBA-card-to-IT-mode/ These instructions will not work on modern hardware with UEFI, you will need to find a newer tutorial, or do what I did.. pull out some old hardware, and flash using older hardware.
