This issue is more related to IOMMU groups rather then the GPU itself. As long as you've got separate iommu groups, you should be able to pass 'any' gpu though to a host. Drivers are installed on the host as well. IOMMU groups are more dependent on the motherboard, not the peripherals attached to it.

The issue I see (at least as your signiture indicates) is the older amd 8350. Most any newer card(gpu) will be bottlenecked by this cpu. Even the top dog of the socket 939/940 world (the amd 9590) is bottlenecked.. even at 5ghz. The issue isnt one of frequency, but instructions per cycle, also known as IPC.

Theoretically, yes. In practice, some cards just don't like being passed through. Just talk to the LT guys about Linus' 7-gamer-1-PC project and all the issues they had to work around. 😓

Simplest way is really just to search the forum for your card and see if other people have had success with it. Ability to pass through doesn't mean your quality of life using it passed through is gonna be great. 😂

Is it 7 gamers1cpu? or 8? or 10? 😂 Wendell to the rescue!

This is good information though, and yes its best to just search the forums here. That being said, the cpu is still a bottleneck in this case. And you loose give or take 10% due to overhead anyway, so YMMV.
