September 9, 20187 yr Looking for help, new to UNRAID. I have tried 3 usb drives: 16gb - Sandisk Cruzer Glide 64gb - Sandisk cruzer ultra fit 32gb - PNY with no luck booting from the flash drive. I have downloaded both Unraid USB Creator and Unraid server 6.5.2 and ran as administrator. Tried on both my server and laptop and won't boot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
September 9, 20187 yr Author With my server, it goes thru the bios then a blinking cursor shows up. On my laptop, I remove my hard drive and place the usb stick in and the system says no bootable hard drive. It’s like the unraid software isn’t on the usb drive.
September 9, 20187 yr Try to find a "select bootable device" list of some flavor in the BIOS, preferably as a hotkey option on boot, and see you can select the stick there.
September 10, 20187 yr Author Motherboard is an American Megatrends. Core Version 4.6.4.1. Under my Boot Option Priorities my USB stick shows under the Boot Option #1. Can someone please screenshot what the base folder directory is.

September 10, 20187 yr Author Thanks for the link. So when I run the Unraid Flash Creator with Version 6.5.3. This is what I get: Config EFI syslinux bzfirmware bzimage bzmodules bzroot bzroot-gui changes license make_bootable make_bootable_linux make_bootable_mac memtest

That wiki isn't completely up-to-date. What exactly are you trying to determine from the list? 6 hours ago, RxLord said: I have downloaded both Unraid USB Creator and Unraid server 6.5.2 and ran as administrator. Have you tried the manual installation here? https://wiki.unraid.net/UnRAID_6/Getting_Started#Manual_Method_.28Legacy.29
September 10, 20187 yr I suspect your issue is the partitioning / format of the USB stick. Try using a more powerful formatting tool like rufus, and set it to MBR boot with a label of UNRAID. After that is done, then use the USB creator tool or manual installation method.
September 10, 20187 yr Author Try rufus and still no luck. Tried 2 different usb sticks and my laptop and server. I'm wondering if the sticks need to be usb 2.0?

I mean may be stating the obvious - did you run make_bootable.bat? I have seen a motherboard having weird issues booting from USB in UEFI so might want to try Legacy mode.

If these were all USB3 flash drives, then that might be the issue, but what we more often see is motherboards that can't boot from a USB3 port. Have you tried other ports? Or they will boot from the USB3 port then lose connection and then unRAID won't be able to access it anymore.
September 10, 20187 yr Author I have run USB creator and copied the files over and ran make_bootable.bat. A dos window comes up with press any key to continue twice. Then exits out of the DOS program.

September 10, 20187 yr Author I have attempt both way multiple times. I just picked up some usb 2.0 flash drives. Will see if they work.
