Lost All Disk Assignments

Featured Replies

2 disks dropped down from the array. Rebooted the server to maintenance, XFS_repair /nv was OK for these 2 disks.

Stopped the array, did new config and saved all current disk assignments,

then saw the 2 disks are missing (they are not assigned and not UAD), so shut down the server and boot it up.

Now I have all the disks (including those 2), and all are unassigned.

I have on the flash drive DISK_ASSIGNMENTS.txt file from Sep. 9th that should have the correct assignments.

I will assign the disks according to that file, start the array, and parity will be rebuilt.

What would happen with the cache array after the re-assignment? What is the correct procedure to avoid data loss?

Unless you replaced a disk since then they ought be correct.

Just assign it as it was before starting the array, no data will be lost

Thanks. Does the order of the disks in the cache array must remain the same?

No, as long as all are present and assigned at first array start.
