Xenserver?

Featured Replies

Hi, i was wondering if anyone has tried and had success with running unraid under xenserver?

My fileserver has 8gb of ram, runs sickbeard and sabnzbd. I've been looking into running headless virtualbox and vmware server on it as well. I would prefer vmware server for the easier management but it all looks... doable but very complicated and not perfect.

So i was thinking that maybe i would be better off with ESXi or xenserver. But i dont think i can passthrough the disks on the ich10 controller with ESXi.

Anyway what are your opinions on this? As i would like to run unraid, unmodified to just share my stuff. Then run a CentOS server with sickbeard and sabnzbd + any other services i might need. And a windows VM with terminal services so my wife can log on with the macbook to do stuff that needs windows.

It all comes down to how the disks are presented to the unRAID Guest OS. They need to show up as normal drive block devices [/dev/sd# or /dev/hd#].

I should also note that I'm not against running CentOS as a xen/kvm host for this as well.

hmmmm, i guess another posibility is a full slackware install (daunting because ive never even looked at how slackware runs before).

with this, would it be possible to run as a kvm/xen host?

and from my understanding if you register unraid you just need to have the flash stick plugged into the usb and can use register unraid on a full slackware?
