Hitcher
Just upgrading from an HP N40L to a Gen8 microserver. Swapped everything over to the Gen8 but when I boot all 4 bay HDDs are listed as missing. The boot and cache devices are fine. I've tried Goggling but nothing really helps. Attached the diagnostics.zip. Thanks. tower-diagnostics-20180917-1518.zip Edited September 20, 2018 by Hitcher Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Check if disks are well seated and powering on, no disks are being detected by the server, it's not an Unraid problem. Hitcher
I figured it probably wasn't any fault of Unraid. They're in as far as the bay will allow. How would I check they're powered? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Check the connections, you don't need to boot Unraid, just check the bios, if no disks are detected there there's still problem. Quote Link to comment
Hitcher
Damn, now to borrow a monitor from somewhere. Cheers. Quote Link to comment
Hitcher
I've moved everything back to my N40L for the time being until I get hold of a monitor but can I stick a spare HDD in a bay and boot to BIOS without anything else installed? Quote Link to comment
Hitcher
OK I've got the boot menu that looks like the pic below but where am I meant to find out if the HDD is detected? Quote Link to comment
Hitcher
After a good look around inside I found the power cable for 4 drives was disconnected from the motherboard! Swapping everything back again after spotting the spare drive appear when booting. EDIT: All good now - sorry for the noise. Edited September 17, 2018 by Hitcher Quote Link to comment
