For some reason I can't seem to install kubuntu, ubuntu server, or ubuntu server alternate installer in a VM. ALl of them hang as soon as you select an option in the bootup menu (ie check media, install, etc) and it changes video modes.

 

Windows 7 Install works fine, not sure what the issue is, can anyone help?

Have you tried it with "SeaBIOS" ?

Yes. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

 

I tried changing the bios type, video card type and chipset.

How are these VMs set up: passthru video or VNC?

I have several Ubuntu VMs running without issue, all are with remote VNC access.

Post a screenshot of your VM set up page.

VNC. No passthrough.

I changed the CPU to QEMU from Host passthrugh (AMD Phenom II X4) and it works.
