"are you sure you want to move this file without its properties"

Featured Replies

I'm getting this message when moving files from Windows 7 to UnRAID. The message window is titled "Property Loss". The body is "The file [filename] has properties that cannot be copied to the new location."

Is this something to worry about?

No, it's nothing to worry about.

I think, but I'm not certain, that it's usually just the metadata about the file that Win7 has, such as times played, ratings, tags, category, etc.

thanks. If only my other problems with the server were as minor...

I've seen that too, there's nothing to worry about.

I saw that last night when I moved 90 GB of home videos from my HDD camcorder.  The weird thing though was that out of all those video files (hundreds of them), only 7 files prompted this message.  They did play back fine after I moved them.  I am curious what properties those 7 had that the other 200+ did not.
