Plex Metadata from Windows based server to Unraid

Featured Replies

Is it possible to transfer my Plex Metadata from my Plex Media Server on my computer running Windows 10 to the Plex Unraid docker?

Sure is, all you need to do is transfer the meta data to the docker folder from the windows folder. It's the same folder structure.

The transfer will take a very long time as it is thousands of little files... Mine too 34 hours.

Yes

If you create the docker first you'll see where.

I've had to move my plex folder a few times recently.  I agree, if you copy the whole folder in one go it takes forever.  I don't know why, but this way allows me to do it in under an hour - could be faster but you have to stay at the keyboard and be alert for when each mini-transfer completes.   The Media and Metadata folders are the painful ones to copy.  What I do is:

  1. Manually create Media/localhost and Metadata/Albums, Metadata/Artists etc folders on the destination
  2. Then manually copy over a few subfolders at a time/in chunks e.g folders 0-3 and then 4-7 from the source Metadata/Albums, folders d-f from Media/localhost etc etc
  3. for the non Media and Metadata top-level folders I copy them all in go

The transfers are much faster
