Just setup my 2nd Unraid machine - Backup

Featured Replies

I have a spare computer gaining dust and I've decided the best course of action is Unraid. I plan to use it as an onsite backup machine :D  I have around 800GB of family photos, also would like to backup existing configuration and VM's I use on my main machine.

What is the best configuration for this, any recommendations on how to automate this process, best dockers etc?

20GB DDR 3 EEC Ram

3x 2TB Hard drivers (I am pre-clearing these now to confirm condition)

You can use CA Backup running on a schedule with the destination set to the backup server (after mounting a share from it via Unassigned Devices).  Won't touch the actual VM Vdisks though.

Hi Squid,

Thanks for your reply.

This option you suggest sounds simple, which is ideal.  Is there a way to have the backup server OFF and only powered on during the backup process?

Also is there a way to have rclone do this and encrypt the backup?
