Missing files after powerfailure

Featured Replies

Server was running Parity-Check at the time of powerloss. When i got it booted back up i see i miss data on atleast 3 disks.

Disk 1 is missing almost 3TB

Disk 2 and 3 is missing about 800gb each.

Disk 4 - Not sure how much was free in the first place, so cant tell.

SMART data seems fine across all drives and array is shown as healthy.

Running 6.5.3

How should i proceed to recover my data?

Thanks.

This seems very unlikely, crash during a parity check shouldn't lose any data, especially TBs of data in several disks , but start by posting your diagnostics: Tools -> Diagnostics

No, but like mentioned it doesn't make any sense losing so much data in multiple disks because of a crash during a parity check, parity check is read only on the data disks.

I see no filesystem issues so whatever happened to the data is likely irreversible, though you can try a deleted file recovery utility, like ufs explorer.

Parity has none of your data. Parity plus all other disks allow a single disabled or missing disk to be recovered. Obviously not your situation.

And as johnnie.black said, what you have told us so far doesn't make any sense.

All of your disks have a decent amount of data on them, so I think you must be mistaken about whether or how you lost any data at all.

It might be instructive to find out if there is anything you haven't told us. Did you do anything else?

IMO that's what makes more sense, that or the data was deleted/missing some time ago and you only noticed now because you looked at the main page after booting.

Nothing was missing before the powerloss. Everything was showing up just fine on Plex. Now there is complete shows and a ton of movies missing.

Only change i did recently was add a cache only share for downloads

But are you sure it isn't just a Plex problem? i.e., check one of the missing movies path on Plex and then check it on the array.

Yeah, i have been browsing the drive through network share and ssh. Some shows are missing a few ep's while others are completly gone.

None of the data was important, so no harm done tbh. Just wish i knew how or why.

Still find very it very unlikely, if not downright impossible, that it was related to an unclean shutdown.

Looks like you cancelled the parity check. Were there any sync errors? You might go ahead with a noncorrecting parity check just to see what you get.

Are you looking at the disks to see the missing files, or are you looking at the user shares?

Still think it's very unlikely if not impossible for file loss on this scale without any other signs of disk or filesystem issues.

Maybe something or someone moved the files and they are no longer where you or Plex are looking for them.
