Hey, Im looking for a budget UNRAID build.

I want to use it for Plex (1080p x265/x264 and 4k in the future) and some Dockers (maybe a VM for testing).

 

What I have:

Drives

SSD (Can I use the same SSD as cache, my Plex library and other stuff?)

Controller: M1015 (flashed)

Case: Define XL2

PSU (Thinking about getting a new one or switching with my Desktop PSU)

 

CPUs + Boards

1055T

fx-8350

A6-3500

 

Some DDR3 sticks.

 

So, Im thinking about getting a new CPU+Board because the ones above are not really what I want to have running 24/7 (and the A6 is just too weak).

Im not really transcoding but it should still be able to handle 1-2 streams but the main goal for it is to be power efficient.

If I was able to use DDR3, that would be great  

If you use your existing CPU's then the DDR3 will work.  Nothing new uses DDR3.

Obviously new hardware is not using DDR3.

I have no problem buying something used.

Xeon E3 v3s look kinda nice, especially the L versions but they are super expensive.

Was just hoping for some combo suggestions with a passmark score around 6-10k.
