Unraid wont boot, Gigabyte Mother Board

Featured Replies

I have made a bootable drive manually and through the Unraid USB creator. I have the USB drive plugged into the motherboard and not the front of the server box. I have followed all the guides on Unraid wiki page. I have tried every change possible in the bios, still nothing works! Please help!

I had a similar issue with my gigabyte m/b. I was able to work around it by bringing up boot manager with F12 I think it was during boot up and chose the USB and not the UEFI that shows as your primary boot option.

Maybe you should enable USB support?

In addition to enabling USB support (good catch @ashman70 ), if you want to boot UEFI (not legacy BIOS mode) you need to rename the EFI- folder on your unRAID flash drive to EFI (remove the trailing '-')

What do you mean by nothing works?  Black screen with flashing cursor after POST?  It won't even boot at all; no POST? You see the unRAID menu but, it hangs loading /bzroot?  A little more information will be helpful.

Since CSM support is disabled, you are forcing the MB/unRAID to boot UEFI (not a bad thing), but, it won't do it without the EFI folder rename I mentioned above.
