October 5, 20187 yr I've unassigned my parity to get faster copy times. I'm changing some drives' filesystem, and juggling drives at the same time since some drives are Sata II still, I'd like to use some Sata III for certain shares instead. I'd also like to replace my parity drive with a sata II instead of the current sata III. If parity isn't an issue, and currently, drives are working OK, can I just assign a sata II (previously formatted) directly to parity? Without mounting the removed parity (sata III) before? And just allow it to create a new parity?
