October 6, 20187 yr My USB flash drive is damaged. I'm unable to get anything back from it. I have confirmed this. This means I'm unable to use the "Flash Backup" option in the GUI. I have reimaged a new USB Flash drive and have not touched the (old) data or parity disks that have my data/parity on them. They are all "Unassigned". I have 2x10TB HDDs and 4x 6TB HDDs. 1x 10TB HDD was the parity disk before - I think I know which one but I'm not 100% sure. I know that choosing the wrong one would be catastrophic for the data that was on there. Edit: I know which disk was the parity disk now (/dev/sdc). I also don't want to add any disks to the new configuration because of this statement in the documentation: "When you Start the array, the system will mount the disk and automatically begin to clear the disk which is required before it can be added to the array" Where do I go from here? October 6, 20187 yr Author Found this post from way back in 2016 that says to add the disks and the data will still be there. Is that accurate? The "clear" thing above has me worried. Others will chime in, but honestly when I do this, I just download the latest version or whatever version you seeking, format the thumb drive, copy the files over, run the make bootable file just like you did before. Pop it in the server, boot it up and add your disks to the array. All your data on the array disks is still there. Just be sure you don't assign a data disk as a parity disk.
October 6, 20187 yr The current recommendation is to reinstall Unraid on the current Flash Drive (if the drive is still usable) and copy the key file to the config directory. Then boot the system using that Flash Drive. Assign all of the hard disks as 'data disks'. Start the array. You should have only one disk shown as unformatted. That will be your Parity Drive. If the current Flash Drive is unusable, perform the same procedure on a new flash drive (be sure that you put the key file in the config directory) and get a new key file by following this procedure: https://lime-technology.com/replace-key/ Edited October 6, 20187 yr by Frank1940

Thank <swear word> for that. Honestly, thought it was going to be a long night ... (and it will be, but only for unRAID which is busy doing a parity rebuild). Thanks for the quick reply.
