Rajahal
I have this same Rosewill docking station. The quality is surprisingly good. Is the F4 the same as the old EcoGreen series? Link to comment
mbryanr
Yes it is the EcoGreen series. http://www.samsung.com/us/business/semiconductor/newsView.do?news_id=1183 Link to comment
rhubarb9999
Outstanding .. I was just looking at 2TB drives yesterday .. but I am partial to Samsung. Just picked up two! Link to comment
bluewhale51
Don't those f4s have the advance format like the Western Digital EARS? Link to comment
mbryanr
Yes. Probably discussed here many times, but I'm just starting with unraid. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/02/02/all-new-hard-drives-will-be-4k-advanced-for/1 To quote Seagate PR directly: "International Disk Drive Materials and Equipment Association (IDEMA) have agreed that beginning January 1, 2011 all new product releases with SATA interfaces will support Advanced Formatted media." cal87
So do you have to use jumpers with these drives like the EARS? Link to comment
BRiT
It depends on how they handle it. The Seagate 3TB external drive uses advanced format layout, however they do their own translation at the interface layer to have it look and function like the old style drive. I might have misunderstood what they said, but that's what I gathered from the Anandtech review. Link to comment
rhubarb9999
So .. if they need jumpers, which pins? Does anyone know for sure if jumpers are needed? Link to comment
cal87
I just received mine from Newegg. Any consensus on if these drives are ok in unRAID? There seems to be 2 sets of jumpers, but not sure what they are for. The manual shows some jumper settings for master/slave settings in PATA setup, so I don't think that applies. Is there a way to know if it is working properly during the preclear script? Link to comment
