unable to install nvidia drivers

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

First of all, I'm new here, so please bear with me if I'm missing some required info.

Searching the net and the forum has not brought any light into my issue - that being, not being able to install nvidia drivers in my win10 virtual machine.

Everytime I try, I get something like "Drivers can't be installed, not compatible with this windows version" (not exact wording) from the nvidia driver installer.

Is there something essential I'm missing out?

My hardware is a Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 mainboard, running a AMD FX4350 CPU and 16 Gigs of RAM. Primary GPU is some AMD R7950, secondary (for passthrough) is an nVidia GTX 1080.

Many thanks for any help!

here goes the xml:

I'm not an expert here, but my VMs all have:

  <os>
    <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-3.0'>hvm</type>
    <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x64/OVMF_CODE-pure-efi.fd</loader>
    <nvram>/etc/libvirt/qemu/nvram/e45c15bc-e70d-e2dc-51e4-70d2710f244b_VARS-pure-efi.fd</nvram>
  </os>

I checked by creating a new VM and this is part of the core template, so I'm not sure where you got your xml from.  Give it a whirl

That is for an ovmf vm. He created a seabios vm, so that bit will not help. If he already installed windows, you can't switch between the two.
