Can’t connect to Unraid SMB share using File Explorer iOS App

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m trying to connect to my Unraid shares using an iOS app called FE File Explorer Pro. I’ve entered in the ip of my server however i keep gettin a permission denied error. Tried both my root and other admin accounts with no luck.

My Shares are set to Export:Yes and Security:Public.

Any ideas?

Are you setting up your unRAID server as a NAS device?

I have the same app and just connected to my server via OpenVPN as I am away from home.

The FE app works well. I recall I had to set up the server as a NAS and not just a Linux machine.

Yea, I tried using Nas and some others.

Did you need to do anything special on the Unraid side of things?

I use File Explorer all the time with my Unraid machine and did not have to do anything special in the setup.    No idea why it is not ‘just working’ for you.

You do not want to use the username of ‘root’ as in principle that user has no access to shares.   However that should not matter with security set as ‘public’.   I simply connect as a ‘guest’ user with no password
