planetwilson
I have an ASRock Extreme 6 X99 motherboard with 5 DIMMs populated giving me 80GB of RAM currently. I have filled one bank of 4 and a single one in the other bank. Am I missing out in some way in not having the remaining 3 populated? Will the first bank run in quad channel mode or does it all fall back to lowest common denominator? Quote Link to comment
bastl
Thats not how quadchannel is working. It only works if you populate 4 slots not more not less. Also the slots you are populated are wrong. Refering to your motherboard manual you have to populate slots A1, B1, C1, D1 http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/X99 Extreme6.pdf Page 8 shows the naming of the slots and on page 21 you can see how to populate them to make use of quadchannel Quote Link to comment
