September 14, 201015 yr Hello, My server has recently disappeared from the network after a reboot. The server seems to boot up fine, but I can not reach it from another computer on the network. It obtains an IP address during boot and the router activity light flashes on and off a couple of times but then after boot the router reports the server as being off and the light is no longer there. If I am on the server and try to ping out I get "connect: network is unreachable" I ran the following commands: ethtool eth0: Settings for eth0: Supported ports: [ TP MII ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Speed: 10Mb/s Duplex: Half Port: MII PHYAD: 0 Transceiver: internal Auto-negotiation: on Supports Wake-on: pumbg Wake-on: g Current message level: 0x00000033 (51) Link detected: no ethtool -i eth0: driver: r8169 version: 2.3LK-NAPI firmware-version: bus-info: 0000:02:00.0 ifconfig eth0: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 48:5b:39:7a:22:a6 UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) Interrupt:26 Base address:0x6000 Any ideas? September 14, 201015 yr No network is being detected as shown in both the ethtool output Link detected: no and in the ifconfig output (no IP address assigned) Most likely suspect is a faulty cable. Second most likely is a bad port on the router, or a bad network interface in the unRAID server. It is NOT obtaining an IP address when it boots. The syslog shows: Sep 13 21:45:09 Tower ifplugd(eth0)[1271]: ifplugd 0.28 initializing. Sep 13 21:45:09 Tower ifplugd(eth0)[1271]: Using interface eth0/48:5B:39:7A:22:A6 with driver <r8169> (version: 2.3LK-NAPI) Sep 13 21:45:09 Tower ifplugd(eth0)[1271]: Using detection mode: SIOCETHTOOL Sep 13 21:45:09 Tower ifplugd(eth0)[1271]: Initialization complete, link beat not detected. Sep 13 21:45:09 Tower kernel: r8169: eth0: link down Good luck.
September 14, 201015 yr Author Thank you. My testing suggests the NIC is bad. Luckily I am within my 30 day replacement so amazon is shipping me a new board.
