\\tower in IE no longer opens managment

Featured Replies

More of a Windows issue but when I goto IE and type in \\tower it just opens the server root in explorer.

Any ideas?

edit: eh works if i type http:\\tower\ so thats good enough for now. Still kinda strange though.

to get to the web management console type

http://tower or  //tower

to get to the server "root" type

\\tower

Forward slashes vs. backslashes.  It makes a BIG difference in what you are asking IE to do.

Doh! I've way to much experience to be making that mistake.  :'(

Sometimes I cannot access my server via http://datacenter (renamed my tower) in one browser, but in others I can.  It's a hit and miss at times.  I have a static IP, but I do use a workgroup and not a domain.  This can be annoying at times.  My main system is Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.

I use Chrome and Firefox as my main browers, but Explorer only when the other 2 cannot access the management page.
